Safe Opiate Prescribing
Opiate addiction is an indiscriminate epidemic. This online course, developed at The VCU Center for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Care, serves as a resource for all licensed prescribers in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the fight against opioid abuse.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- describe the extent and demographics of the opioid epidemic.
- explain the biological basis of opioid addiction.
- integrate best practices for safe opiate prescribing into the care of your patients.
- identify and refer patients with potential opiate use disorders to appropriate care.
